30. Younger Self Feelings and Needs Meditation

This is an inner child healing practice. This is so important to do regularly. Why? Because from the time we were born, up until age 25, most of us experience some trauma or scarcity.

Regardless of whether the trauma was as seemingly benign as:

  1. a teacher or parent verbally criticizing you,

  2. not being able to afford the same things as other kids

  3. feeling lonely after a break-up

Or as intense as:

  1. experiencing war or violence

  2. a death in the family

  3. not being able to pay for food

That experience became like a painful infected wound. Then when you go to make decisions in the present day, anything experience that reminds you of that time sends a panicky danger message to your brain, and those old familiar feelings flood your body. Your pre-frontal cortex which is responsible for creativity and critical thinking shuts off, your limbic brain responsible for reaching into the past to find evidence you're in danger turns on. You're in a stress response, thinking thoughts like:

I'm somehow deficient, wrong and bad

I don't belong

I'm all alone

Your focus gets really tunneled. You get fixated on one little problem that feels like life or death. Black or white. Right or wrong. You're unable to access creativity or see possibilities.

Terrible right? So what do we do?

This feelings and needs practice is a powerful tool to help you feel and release those all emotions. It helps you reparent yourself. Meet your needs. Take care of yourself in a way someone would have taken care of you.

It might feel uncomfortable. Tears might arise. Be gentle with yourself. Know that this practice helps you access your power, playfulness, and grace. It reminds you that you are resilient. You are not who you used to be. Enjoy! Do as often as necessary!

This practice is super important as you grow your capacity to create and manage wealth! Especially if building wealth is outside your comfort zone!
